On Friday night, former Arkansas State kicker Dominic Zvada announced his commitment to the Michigan football team on X. Zvada spent two seasons with the Red Wolves and brings two remaining years of eligibility to the Wolverines.

A native of Chandler, Ariz., Zvada didn’t have a ton of Division I offers out of high school. Over the past two seasons, though, he’s developed and proven himself as a high-end kicker.

During his true freshman campaign, he was a Lou Groza Award semifinalist — only the fifth player in Arkansas State history to earn that recognition. He finished that season going 17-for-18 on field goals, his lone miss coming from 51 yards. Notably, Zvada went a perfect 4-for-4 on field goals at Ohio State, the first kicker to do so since 2000. His 56-yard field goal at Texas State was the second-longest in FBS during the 2021-22 season.

This past season, Zvada scored a career-high 92 points, going 17-for-22 on field goals and 41-for-41 on extra points. He was named to the Lou Groza Award Watch List, and he also took over kickoff duties toward the end of the season.

Zvada joins a Michigan special teams unit that lost its kicking leader in James Turner, who transferred to the Wolverines last year but declared for the NFL Draft this offseason. In Michigan’s Spring Game last weekend, senior Tommy Doman retained punting duties while kicking responsibilities were shared between sophomores Adam Samaha and Cordell Jones-McNally.

With Zvada’s commitment, he’ll add important depth and experience to the Wolverines’ kicker room. He’ll also face his former team in Ann Arbor on Sep. 14, which should be an exciting game for the transfer.
