Three things you should know today

1 A law student at Michigan State University has been charged with promoting prostitution, money laundering and conspiracy. He allegedly managed a brothel in New York City where many prostitutes made over $1,000 per hour. He pleaded not guilty last week.

2 Detroit Public Schools has unveiled a plan to close 52 schools, including Communication and Media Arts High School, which sends 97 percent of its graduates to college.

3 According to a study conducted by researchers at the University of Michigan and Stanford University, a specific set of genes can indicate the chance of breast cancer recurrence. The 186 indicator genes are located in certain types of cancer cells .
