Local police were notified of reports of an armed person in a home on the 400 block of North State Street in Ann Arbor Friday afternoon, the University of Michigan Division of Public Safety and Security announced in an alert sent to students at about 12:50 p.m. The Ann Arbor Police Department is responding to the incident.

AAPD told The Michigan Daily they have no comment at this point on the developing situation.

As of 1:25 p.m., police are still advising community members to avoid the area and follow law enforcement directions. All traffic within several blocks of the area is being rerouted by authorities.

In a tweet posted shortly before 2 p.m., the City of Ann Arbor asked people to avoid the area from Division Street to Glen Avenue and Fuller Street to Huron Street due to the “ongoing Police situation.”

Around 2:45 p.m. on Friday, it was announced that the situation had been resolved peacefully, though neither Aimee Metzer, AAPD’s deputy chief, nor Melissa Overton, deputy chief of police at the University, responded immediately to request for comment.
