There’s something about waking up to the sounds of waves caressing the shoreline that makes this spot so peaceful. The cabin is my boyfriend’s family’s cozy vacation getaway, positioned right on Lake Huron. Behind their cabin abode rests a steep hill that leads to an ever-receding shoreline. Here there are a variety of smooth rocks that beg to be skipped, examined and broken. Such activities in this ethereal landscape offer a break from the craziness that is the rest of the world. Its separation from cookie-cutter suburbs and skyscraper horizons comes from the way the sun dips into the water blending into one being. During moments like these, I question the reality between Earth and its dimensions, but the Earth only replies with the hum of distant fraters on the open lake waters.
