The Michigan women’s basketball team has added No. 8 Maryland to their schedule, set to play on Thursday, Mar. 4. The time is still to be determined.
This addition to the schedule comes after the Wolverines had to cancel their game on Sunday, Feb. 28 against Minnesota due to COVID-19 issues in the Golden Gophers’ program. Michigan has not played Maryland yet this season as both originally scheduled games were postponed due to the COVID-19 two-week break.
Out of 10 games postponed or canceled this season, only two have been rescheduled. The only other rescheduled game was against Michigan State.
With the addition of the Maryland match-up, the Wolverines have two regular-season games remaining on their schedule. They’re also set to play Northwestern on Saturday.
Michigan will likely finish the regular season having played only 18 games. Only Rutgers has played fewer games than the Wolverines, compared to any other team in the Big Ten conference.
Finishing out the season playing a ranked Maryland and competitive Northwestern teams will be challenging, but seeing each team before the Big Ten tournament could prove beneficial for Michigan.
