With unique knowledge of issues that strongly affect campus dynamics, students provide a vital viewpoint on the matters that affect them. Perspectives is a video series that uses visual media to highlight student voices and catalyze further community dialogue.
In response to the recent shooting of Deah Barakat, 23, Yusor Abu-Salha, 21, and Razan Abu-Salha, 19 — three Muslim college students in Chapel Hill, NC — I felt as though it was necessary to connect with students here on campus and discuss how this tragedy has impacted them and our campus. It is important for us to listen to one another during these difficult times in order to gain knowledge and awareness about what’s going on around us. Due to the sensitive nature of this topic, students were given the option to remain anonymous.
