1. A man based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina has donated more than $28 million to 27 colleges, the Charlotte Observer reported. But, for at least 17 of the colleges, there is a stipulation that Ayn Rand’s novel “Atlas Shrugged” is included in a course as required reading.

3. The first female firefighter in Erie, Pennsylvania is trying to get her job back after intentionally setting fire to her father’s house, WGAL reported. Officials say she set fire to the house in an attempted suicide.
