1 A group of Columbia University professors and deans is traveling to Iran to officially apologize to Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad for remarks made by Columbia University President Lee Bollinger, The Tehran Times reported. Bollinger, the former University of Michigan, said the visit isn’t endorsed by Columbia.

2 Hundreds of thousands of people interested in seeing the world without paying for hotels have joined a social networking website called couchsurfing.com. The site allows users to offer their home as a place for travelers to stay and find like-minded people aroound the globe.

3 According to a study published in the journal Pediatric Dermatology, birthmarks might be caused by a lack of oxygen in the womb. The researchers found a strong link between restricted oxygen in the placenta and the formation of the small tumors that form birthmarks.
