Morgan Trent
Position: Cornerback
Height: 6-foot-1
Weight: 184 pounds
Year: Redshirt junior
The skinny: A wide receiver-turned-cornerback who is coming into his own in his third year at his new position.
Ups: Trent shut down Notre Dame’s Jeff Samardzija last year on the road and has become the Michigan secondary’s most reliable player this season.
Downs: The junior got beat repeatedly against Ohio State and Southern Cal to close out an otherwise solid sophomore season.
Quotable: “He came back in the winter with an attitude that he wanted to play a full season. He’s a very dedicated guy, takes care of himself. He’s got pride, and that motivated him in the course of the spring and off-season. There’s no question in my mind he’ll be able to finish this year.” – Michigan coach Lloyd Carr.
Dorien Bryant
Position: Wide receiver
Height: 5-foot-10
Weight: 175 pounds
Year: Senior
The skinny: One of the Big Ten’s most dangerous dual threats – a great receiver and explosive returner who can score any time he touches the ball.
Ups: Bryant was on the Biletnikoff watch list entering the season (for nation’s top wide receiver). A 12-catch, 150 yard, two touchdown performance two weeks ago against Minnesota.
Downs: The senior was held to negative yards (two catches, minus-four yards) receiving last week against Ohio State.
Quotable: “Their special teams are excellent. When (Dorien) Bryant’s back there, it’s like Teddy Ginn being back there. He can bring it at any time.” – Ohio State coach Jim Tressel
