Jill Stuart: Fall 2008 Ready to Wear
Some of the biggest names in fashion displayed their collections Monday, and one of the heavy hitters was Jill Stuart, a New York Fashion Week staple since the early ’90s. Her collection stands out as one of the largest showcased during the event thus far.
Stuart’s fashion sense reflects the trends that young starlets like Lindsay Lohan and Sienna Miller have embodied for a while. Dresses provided a link between looks, each varying in either color or silhouette. Black was the predominant color going down the runway, with scattered pieces of navy and dark green. The fabric choices were luxurious, each with sheen and sparkle.
Overall, the pieces exuded an effortless style. Stuart’s biggest strength is creating comprehensive outfit. The best representation of this is a plum satin turtleneck with navy accents, paired with a black brocade skirt. A multi-buckle belt, lace-up booties and black satchel complete the ensemble. As a whole, Stuart put on a show that displayed elegance while telling different stories all at once – in the most stylish way.
