My dream is that the beauty of my creator will be seen when manifested in places not expected. I have an even wilder dream of being able to show those unexpected moments. I have a dream to tell the stories of this beautiful earth, its people, and of the events that take place on it. I have a dream that my photos will speak when words aren’t enough, or when I can’t find the correct ones myself. I have a dream of smiles, of long conversations, silent moments of hope, and tears, tears of laughter and tears of heartache, of moments where I can feel the unity of our human existence and I just want to shout out to somehow share it. I dream that my photos can be this shout.
This dream is what draws me to my camera. Each member of our team of twenty has a completely different one. Yet they lead us all to the same place, catching moments at hundredths of a second and telling the stories of this campus.
We find ourselves in situations never dreamed of: front row as President Obama addresses a crowd of 1,500; feet away from nationally ranked athletes as they dive, dunk and score; at the heart of a powerful student protest. Armed with a camera, a good sense of timing, and a keen observational ability, we strive to capture campus life at its most thrilling, most inspiring, and sometimes most banal.
