The reward for any information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the March 26 fire in West Quad has been raised to $1,000, a Department of Public Safety official said.

The news comes the same day DPS released a video recording of an individual that has been identified as a person of interest.

“DPS asked that the reward be raised because of the seriousness of the incident and our growing interest in identifying the person of interest,” DPS Spokeswoman Diane Brown wrote in an e-mail Monday.

The person of interest is described as 18-22 years old, 5-feet, 7-inches tall with short blonde hair and a slim build, according to a DPS security bulletin released this weekend. He was last seen wearing a yellow T-shirt, blue jeans, a blue jacket and white tennis shoes.

“Progress in the investigation continues to be made,” Brown wrote. “The investigators are following several leads, but we always can use more.”
