Paul Courtan – University Provost

– Responsibilities: The provost is both the chief academic officer and the chief budgetary officer. The provost appoints the deans of University colleges and schools and is in charge of the tenure process for faculty. He or she also recommends the budget and tuition increases every year.

– Courant said his favorite part of holding the position is talking with faculty members about their work and the range of research done on this campus. “It’s a liberal education from the other side,” he said.
