University officials will hold a media briefing today at 1 p.m. regarding the “NCAA report about the football program,” according to a release distributed earlier today.

University President Mary Sue Coleman, Michigan football coach Rich Rodriguez and incoming Athletic Director David Brandon will make statements at the briefing, according to the release. Following their statements they will also take questions.

The NCAA has been investigating allegations that the Michigan Football program violated NCAA regulations on the number of hours student-athletes can spend practicing and in off-season workouts, since Oct. 23 when NCAA Vice President for Enforcement David Price sent a letter of inquiry to Coleman.

Price wrote in the letter that he wanted to complete the investigation by Dec. 31, 2009, but that the date was not a firm deadline.

When allegations against the Michigan football program were first brought forth by the Detroit Free Press in August 2009, the University began an internal investigation. There have been no updates on the internal investigation since it began.
