Units from the Ann Arbor Fire Department and University Division of Public Safety and Security responded to the construction site for the University’s new nursing school building on North Ingalls early Monday morning following a reported gas main break.

DPSS spokesperson Diane Brown said University Police responded to the call at 9:43 a.m. There were no injuries reported.

Representatives from DTE were on scene to perform a safety inspection of the building but said the gas line rupture posed no risk to surrounding residences. Members of the construction crew were seen leaving the site at about 10:30 a.m.

Brown said wind conditions blew any lingering gas away from nearby buildings.

The University’s Board of Regents approved the new nursing school building, which is located adjacent to the existing facility, at the March 2012 board meeting. A grand opening event is currently scheduled for Sept. 18.
