A Michigan football helmet used for research at the University of Michigan Health System Spine Clinic was reported stolen Friday.

A “U-M football helmet” was reportedly taken from the clinic between Dec. 21 and Jan. 1, according to the University Police crime log. The case was opened on Jan. 4 after staff reported the helmet was missing.

It’s unclear whether the helmet was owned by the University or affiliated with Michigan Football. University Police spokeswoman Diane Brown declined to release further information about the incident until an investigation is completed.

There are currently no suspects in the alleged theft.
