Marcel Marceau, considered the world”s greatest mime, was named as the recipient of the UMS Distinguished Artist Award for 2001 last week. He will receive his award at the Ford Honors Program on May 12th at Hill Auditorium.
Marceau made his first UMS appearance in 1971, and this May will be his 31st. He has also appeared with the Ann Arbor Summer Festival several several times since the 1980s. In his 78th year of performing, he still attracts sold-out crowds and a wealth of fans.
