The Michigan women’s golf team was looking for its fourth top-five finish of the year this weekend at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C. Instead, the Wolverines ended up with a disappointing last-place finish in the final event of the fall season.
Senior Lindsay Davis led Michigan, tying for 30th, while sophomore Ashley Bauer tied for 34th.
No other Wolverine finished in the top 40. Double and triple bogeys plagued Michigan all weekend, and the Wolverines couldn’t recover from their 10th place standing after the first day of play.
The Landfall provided Michigan with some tough competition, with many of Golfweek’s top-25 teams present. No. 12 Purdue, No. 18 Wake Forest, No. 22 Michigan State and No. 25 Virginia all participated. Wake Forest won the tournament, with the other three all finishing in the top four.
The Wolverines have the winter off and will be back in action on Feb. 9 at the Alumni Match.
