To the Daily:

The recent Campus Club article regarding Michigan Against Neglecting Ann Arbor Hunger was not a clear representation of how meal plan Dining Dollars might be used for charitable causes (Campus Club: Michigan against neglecting Ann Arbor hunger, 04/08/2010). Dining Dollars are a component of a student’s meal plan, and they cannot be transferred to another student or organization. Thus, they cannot be collected, pooled and spent for charitable purposes by an organization. If students wish to support a charity with their Dining Dollars, they must buy the items they wish to donate with their Dining Dollars.

MANAH is one of several student organizations that have asked University Housing about using students’ Dining Dollars for charity. For example, Delta Epsilon Iota is also soliciting students to contribute Dining Dollar purchases to Ronald McDonald House Charities.
