In The Michigan Daily article (Working out the kinks,2/21/2011) you list a slew of proposals that should be implemented to improve the recreational buildings on campus, including more cardio and weight lifting equipment as well as more spacious cardio and weight lifting areas. Are you serious?

I agree that the equipment may not be the newest, but it sure beats the pay gyms around town, both in size and selection. Like every other gym, it’s crowded between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., but that doesn’t mean we need a bigger gym.

Personally, I frequent the Central Campus Recreational Building at 6 a.m. and have complete freedom of choice of all of the equipment around. If anything, the recreational buildings should invest in a live-occupancy display that shows the number of patrons currently “checked-in” at a gym. I can see this solving most of the complaints.

With that, I hope to see you at 6 a.m. tomorrow.
