WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) – Five elementary school students were treated for minor injuries yesterday after their school bus plunged into a ditch.

The students, aged 8 to 10, were taken by Waterloo Fire Rescue to Allen Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police Capt. Bruce Arends said in a statement.

The children are students at Dr. Walter Cunningham School for Excellence, a preschool through fifth grade public school in Waterloo.

The bus went off the road at 7:30 a.m. but remained upright in the ditch, Arends said.
