Senior Jon Donadee, dressed in street clothes, walked up to sophomore Kyle Schroeder, fresh off of his finals performance in the 3-meter springboard event. The two divers high-fived and shook hands.
Donadee, who joined the team as a walk-on four years ago, dove for the final time as a Wolverine earlier that day. Schroeder, after finishing first for Michigan nearly all season, proved from his solid performance at this weekend’s NCAA Zone C Diving Championships that he is prepared to continue leading Michigan’s divers next year.
Schroeder qualified for the finals in both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard diving events, finishing 16th overall in the 1-meter and 13th overall in the 3-meter.
“I dove better than I expected and better than I have pretty much all season,” Schroeder said. “I feel like this is what I was working for.”
Schroeder finished with a score of 532.65 in Friday’s 1-meter finals, adding to his preliminary score of 269.35. His first dive in the finals, a forward 2
