The season isn’t over, but it’s finished.

The Michigan men’s basketball team will conclude its season in the National Invitational Tournament for the second-straight season, and the third season in the past four, barring a miraculous Big Ten Tournament Championship.

And with powerhouses Wisconsin and Ohio State participating in the same tournament, it would take nothing short of divine intervention for Michigan to realize that impossible dream.

With last night’s 54-42 loss at Illinois, the Wolverines can finish no better than 2-6 on the road in conference play. And that’s assuming they win at Minnesota, which is no guarantee, considering Michigan’s recent two-point victory over the Golden Gophers at home.

This just in: There aren’t any home games in the NCAA Tournament.
