Laptop stolen from medical research lab

Where: Medical Science Research Building III

When: Monday at about 8:30 a.m.

What: A University of Michigan staff member reported the theft of a Dell laptop from an unsecured lab, the Department of Public Safety reported. The laptop was valued at approximately $1,000. DPS has no suspects.

Student in West Quad falls, hits head

Where: West Quad

When: Monday at about 8:30 p.m.

What: A student fell in West Quad and hit his head. He suffered no external injuries, but was only semi-conscious. A friend called DPS. An ambulance transported the injured student to the University Hospital.

Student injured playing basketball

Where: Mitchell Field

When: Monday at about 10 p.m.

What: A student fell while playing basketball, DPS reported. He was taken to the University Hospital with a possible separated shoulder, police said.

Doctor’s signature forged

Where: University Hospital

When: Monday at about 4:30

What: A non-University employer called the University Hospital because the employer was suspicious about whether a University doctor’s signature on a sick note was real, DPS reported. Police are investigating the case.
