Flaming toilet suspected to be case of arson
When: Saturday at about 4:05 p.m.
What: A caller reported that a portable toilet in a restricted area of the golf course was on fire, the Department of Public Safety reported. By the time a fire crew arrived, the toilet was “engulfed in flame,” police said. The value of the toilet, which was completely destroyed, was estimated at $1,000. Police suspect the toilet was set on fire intentionally.
Student caught with alcohol, pot in Markley
Where: Mary Markley Residence Hall
When: Sunday at about 12:25 a.m.
What: A male student was discovered with marijuana after another student called to report the smell of pot in the hallway, DPS reported. He was also cited for minor in possession of alcohol. Three other students were in the room, but none were cited for violations.
In class, book taken from bag hung on chair
Where: Chemistry Building
When: Friday at about 11:15 a.m.
What: A female student called to report that a book was stolen from her bag while the bag was hanging on the back of her chair, DPS reported. The student was in class in one of the building’s labs at the time and suspects that another specific member of the class stole the book.
