Offensive Scout

The Gajic-Hensick-Tambellini tandem looked more like Kurri-Gretzky-Tikkanen this weekend. When paired, the trio was almost unstoppable posting eight points. But, Alaska-Fairbanks was able to shut down Michigan’s offense for extensive periods of time both nights.

Defensive Scout

Much better. The Wolverines limited Alaska-Fairbanks to just four goals all weekend and both goals on Saturday were scored when the game was all but over. Even though they were better, the defensemen have to work on clearing the front of the net.

Special Teams Scout

The penalty kill struggled again. All four of Alaska-Fairbanks’s goals were scored with at least one Michigan player watching from the penalty box. Michigan needs to improve on its penalty kill in practice so they’ll be ready for Ohio State.

Goaltender Scout

In his strongest performance of the year, Montoya let in just four goals on the weekend. And, as Alaska-Fairbanks coach Tavis MacMillan said, “He was good when he needed to be.” The two goals he let in in the waning minutes of Saturday’s game hurt though.
