Before hearing The Barnyard Playboys, I’d never heard any southern indie-rock. Unfortunately, now I have. Corn Dog Love is a piece of crap, if at times an endearing one. Sure, songs like “Whiskey Dick Mountain” are good for a laugh, but when numerous songs pass by without even a chuckle, you realize that the band isn’t necessarily trying to be funny. They probably use expressions like “you’re about as psychic as a paper bag full o’ shit” in real life. In summary: unless you’re fucking wasted, don’t ever listen to this record.
