A woman walking down Linden Street was robbed early Saturday morning, Ann Arbor Police said.

The woman told police that at approximately 2:10 a.m., a black male approached her and pulled out a small handgun. The man punched her, took her cell phone and fled on foot to Geddes Avenue.

The suspect was described as a clean-shaven 22 year old with a thin build. The suspect also had medium-length braided hair.

Tom Hickey, a sergeant of the Ann Arbor Police Department, said the case is currently under investigation.

While the frequency of area incidents this summer is consistent with previous years, Hickey said residents should be cautious when going out.

“Safety in numbers is always good,” Hickey said. “Walking around intoxicated is never good. Like anything, be aware of your surroundings, stay away from isolated or secluded areas.”
