The City of Ann Arbor has finally filled the vacant Ann Arbor Fire Chief spot with Larry Collins accepting the position Tuesday.
Collins was fire chief for Brevard County Fire-Rescue in Brevard County, Fl. from 2009 to 2014. Additionally, he served 30 years with the Dayton Fire Department, eventually becoming director and fire chief before leaving in 2008.
Ann Arbor Police Chief John Seto has been overseeing the fire department operations since former Fire Chief Chuck Hubbard retired in January. In a press release, Seto said he is confident in Collins’ abilities to work well in Ann Arbor.
“We are fortunate for the more than three decades of fire service Larry will bring to Ann Arbor,” Seto said in the release. “Larry has experience in strategic and operational planning, organization change and development, budget and fiscal management and intergovernmental collaboration, which will be invaluable to the AAFD.”
Collins is slated to start working in mid-December.
