Michigan senior forwards Colin McAtee, William Mellors-Blair, James Murphy and TJ VanSlooten were accompanied by their families on Senior Night.
Michigan was able to break through in the second half and move on with a 1-0 victory.
Senior forward James Murphy returned to the pitch for just the second time since Sept. 11 and led his team to victory.
Since that loss in Ann Arbor on Oct. 8, Northwestern has won four out of its last five games.
“It’s been really tough, obviously, my senior year, and to sit out most of the season,” Murphy said. “It’s great to get back in it and just do whatever I can do to help this team out and help to finish the season strong.”
Needing a response after being reduced to 10 men, the Wolverines held strong and stuck together.
Finally, in sudden-death overtime, the Wolverines broke through for a 1-0 victory.
In a physical battle, the Wolverines came away with a win on Senior Night thanks to an excellent defensive effort.
The Wolverines were left to rue their missed chances in Bloomington, falling to the Hoosiers, 1-0.
