Hundreds walk out to protest Spencer event, march on campus

In a press conference on March 22, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced she will lay off workers from various departments in the Michigan State Government. These layoffs are expected to last 10 days and the employees affected will immediately be processed into unemployment.
Approximately 20 health care workers gathered in front of the University of Michigan Hospital on Wednesday night as part of a national rally to demand support for hospital staff. They were joined by about 50 other supporters driving by with posters and signs.
The first case of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) was confirmed at the Vic Village-North apartment building this Friday. It is the first case to be discovered at either student on-campus or off-campus housing at the University of Michigan.
In an email from the leasing office sent to residents, the office confirmed the case while outlining various guidelines and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) on minimizing exposure and spread of the virus.
Update: On Tuesday, Whitmer expanded the ban to prohibit all events with 50 or more people.
With concerns and precautions growing due to COVID-19, the world has had to adapt.
