The University of Michigan announced on April 7 it will provide 7,500 of the one-dose Johnson & Johnson/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine to students free of charge at three locations over the next week. On Tuesday, this was changed to Pfizer for the Ann Arbor clinics later this week after the Washtenaw County Health Department paused use of the J&J vaccine due to rare blood clots in six recipients.

Central Student Government is providing free bus transportation to students receiving the vaccine at the Meijer on Ann Arbor-Saline Road, where 2,000 doses will be available on Thursday, April 15 and Friday, April 16. Here’s what you need to know about accessing the bus rides:

Is the bus free?

Yes, there is no cost to students to ride the bus.

Will there be other vaccines available at Meijer?

No, the University is only providing Pfizer vaccines to U-M students.

How do I sign up for the Meijer Vaccine?

Text GoBlue to 75049 and you will receive a link to schedule an appointment. You can also make an appointment via this link.

Do I have to sign up for the buses?

No, the buses do not require sign-ups.

When will the bus run?

The schedule is the same on April 15 and April 16, and the buses will run at these times:

8:00 a.m. – 10 a.m.: Runs every 30 minutes.

10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.: Runs every 15 minutes.

Where is the bus stop?

The bus stop is at the Michigan Stadium, and there are two options to get there:

  1. Go to the Big House and cross Kipke Drive to take the bus straight to Meijer. After you receive a vaccine, the shuttle will bring you to campus.
  2. Go to the Central Campus Transit Center and get on the Diag to Michigan Stadium Blue Bus. Then, go to the Michigan Stadium and cross Kipke Drive to take the bus to Meijer.

Will the shuttle take me to any other vaccine location sites?

The shuttle will only take students to Meijer. The Meijer on Ann Arbor-Saline Road is the only official vaccine location affiliated with the University of Michigan off-campus.

What are the other U-M vaccination opportunities? Where else can I get vaccinated nearby?

The Michigan Daily also has a running list of vaccination sites in Southeast Michigan that can be found here.

Correction: This article has been updated to reflect the correct days of the week for the bus transportation services. Following the recommended pause of J&J vaccines, it has also been updated to reflect that Pfizer vaccines will be administered at Meijer, not J&J.
