It was a big weekend for the Michigan women’s track and field team.

Not only was it the Michigan women’s track and field team’s only outdoor home meet of the season, but it was also the last time the seven seniors on the team will wear the block ‘M’ in the regular season.

Jennifer Neville was the only senior to walk away from the Len Paddock Invitational with a win this weekend. Neville narrowly beat freshman teammate Amber Smith in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.04.

With most of the distance and mid-distance runners resting in preparation for the upcoming Big Ten Outdoor Championships, all of Michigan’s victories on the track came from the sprinters.

Additional wins in the 400-meter dash, the 100-meter dash and the 100-meter hurdles contributed to the Wolverines’ overall result of five event titles.

Kiley Tobel garnered Michigan’s only field victory of the weekend. The sophomore jumped a height of 3.95 meters, which was enough to ensure her first place. Senior Andrea Marcos finished runner-up after clearing a personal record.

The meet at Ferry Field marked the end of Michigan’s 1o-week away meet stretch. With the regular season at an end, the Wolverines now have a week to prepare for the Big Ten Outdoor Championships, where they hope to improve on last year’s eighth-place finish.
