A little more than a week away from officially opening its season, the Michigan baseball team announced Tuesday it will travel to Chicago to take on Northwestern at historic Wrigley Field on April 20.
It will be part of a three-game series between the Wolverines and the Wildcats.
This addition to the schedule marks yet another exciting environment that the Wolverines are booked to play at in their 2013 season — in March, the team will take on Yale at Citi Field, home of the New York Mets, and will play two games at separate Minor League parks this spring.
The game is part of a long-term arrangement between Northwestern and the Chicago Cubs as a way to showcase a variety of Northwestern’s athletic teams. Plans for Wildcat lacrosse and football games at the park are currently in the works, and there are hopes that more of Northwestern’s varsity teams will be able to take advantage of the venue as well.
Michigan officially kicks off its season against California on Feb. 15 at 4:30 p.m. in Berkeley, Calif.
