On Saturday, I traveled to Lansing to cover Standing Rock protests in front of the state Capitol. Over 400 people were present to protest the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline in North Dakota, which will cross land belonging to the Standing Rock Sioux tribe and has the potential to contaminate their water access. The protest was planned and run by Native Americans who came from across Michigan to stand up for Standing Rock.
