The Daily Weekly's Election Series: Casting Your Ballot
SUBSCRIBE AND LISTEN TO FULL EPISODE BELOW
With the presidential election less than one month away, the time is now to make our plans to vote. COVID-19 has presented many new challenges to the normal procedures in our lives, and elections are no different. COVID-19 has forced many states like Michigan to expand absentee and mail-in voting programs and to scramble to find poll workers. Additionally, for many college students this is their first-time voting. In 2016, only 45% of Michigan students turned out to vote and in the 2018 midterms turnout was only 41% according to data released by the National Study of Learning, Voting and Engagement. For these reasons and more, it is incredibly important that everyone is informed about the safest way for their vote to be counted. Need more guidance on registering to vote, researching candidates, and casting your ballot? We’ll cover that too.
Welcome to the first episode in The Daily Weekly’s 2020 election series, Casting Your Ballot, the episode about all things voting. On today’s episode, we will be discussing the importance of your vote, how to cast your ballot, and the unique election-day challenges presented by COVID-19.
