On May 9, the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office announced increased reports of larcenies from motor vehicles and motor vehicle thefts. These incidents have been particularly frequent in the eastern portion of Ypsilanti Township.

According to the announcement, most of these thefts occurred between midnight and 6 a.m. to unlocked vehicles. Within the last week, two unknown male subjects wearing dark clothing and carrying backpacks were reportedly seen trying to gain entry into multiple vehicles in the Emerson Street and Lakeview Avenue area.

To prevent further theft, Sheriff Jerry Clayton urged people in Washtenaw County to lock their vehicles and to report any and all suspicious persons and activities.
