Photo Gallery: John K. King Bookstore
Reading has always provided me with an escape from my mundane day-to-day activities, and bookstores have always been my wonderland. Even such generic stores, like Barnes & Nobles, ignite that solitude and isolation that comes with opening the cover of a book. Imagine that, but on steroids. I introduce to you John K. King Used & Rare Books, located in downtown Detroit. This store is stacked floor to ceiling with thousands of books, magazines, postcards and random antique items. This collection spans over four whole floors in an old industrial building; it is easy to get lost amongst the never-ending shelves. If you can’t go out right now, take a minute and gaze over these images and imagine that smell of leather and aged paper rising from the screen. Open up to your inner wonder and ponder over the magic this hole-in-the-wall (although not small) may have to offer.
