Last November, Michigan passed Proposal 18-1 which legalized adult use of recreational marijuana and possession of up to 2.5 ounces. December 1, 2019 marked the first day of recreational marijuana sales. Of the 6 licensed recreational shops in Michigan, 4 are located in Ann Arbor. The other two are located in Evart, which is located in the middle of the state and the other in Morenci which is on the eastern side of the Michigan-Ohio border.

Al Moroz, manager of Arbors Wellness, told the Daily about the high demand from customers lined up on Sunday to purchase recreational marijuana. We wonder, why does Ann Arbor have the highest concentration of marijuana shops throughout Michigan? What does the legalization mean for those incarcerated on charges of marijuana possession? And what additional policies are being pushed forward at the state level?
