Why I Joined MiC: Sean Tran
Candidly speaking (as always, of course), I joined MiC because I love to talk about myself. I first learned about this group at the encouragement of fellow peers on the MiC staff. Although this story doesn’t seem extraordinarily profound, it’s not only true, but also exactly the right answer. I never quite realized how valuable my identity as a person of color is until I came to the University of Michigan. This was the result of being surrounded by so many open-minded, lovely people of color on campus that allowed me to learn, became some of my best friends, and inspired me to embrace who I am, with all of my intersecting identities. I have much more to learn about myself, as well as what is going on in the world around me. We do that best when we learn from each other.
