Unsolved home invasion reported on N. Thayer St.
A home in the 100 block of North Thayer St. was broken into between 2 a.m. and noon on Sunday, according to a crime report released by the University of Michigan Division of Public Safety and Security.
The report details the account given to the Ann Arbor Police Department, which stated: “an unknown subject entered the apartment through an unlocked door and took electronics from a common area while the residents slept.”
In a Facebook post on a popular on-campus group, LSA senior, Haley Pierce, who is a resident of the robbed N. Thayer St. home, provided a description of the objects stolen.
"... they took my roommates computer, she is a computer science major so her computer is everything to her, it’s a Dell Inspiron with a Linux login so if anyone sees it or tries to get it sold to them please please let us know," Pierce wrote. "It’s really important for us to find it, they also took our PS4 and all our games, as well as a Wii U gamepad so please let us know!"
In an e-mail interview following her post, Pierce said her house, at the time of the home invasion, was locked due to previous crime alerts.
"I had heard heard so much about the break ins on campus, including one down the street from us," Pierce wrote. "After that we started diligently locking our door, but even with all the doors locked that night they still got in. They made off with about $2000 worth of stuff, that with the exception of the laptop, we probably will never see again... "Our locks were changed today, but overnight even though we knew they wouldn’t come back we checked every time we heard something."
No suspects have been named in the home invasion, nor have any arrests been made in connection to the crime. DPSS encouraged anybody who may have information regarding the break-in to contact the U-M Division of Public Safety and Security at 734-763-1131 or to contact the Ann Arbor Police Department Tip Line at 734-794-6939.
