Man arrested near campus after non-fatal shooting

A man was arrested in a non-fatal shooting Monday night in Ann Arbor, near the University of Michigan Central Campus, according to a report from the Ann Arbor Police Department.

The shooting took place on the 700 block of North University, between South State and North University streets. AAPD and U-M Division of Public Safety and Security officers responded to the report of the shooting at 9:33 p.m., immediately taking the 24-year-old shooter into custody.

The victim, a 43-year-old man, was taken to the University hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The AAPD says the motive behind the shooting is still unclear at this time. AAPD detectives are currently investigating the incident.

The University has yet to send out a crime alert regarding the incident on Monday night, May 14.
