Things Men Ruined: The Casting Couch
In the second episode of Things Men Ruined, Natalie and Emily take a look at the history of Hollywood's casting couch, a phenomenon that came to be emblematic of salacious behavior on the part of Hollywood executives. Tracing the term from its origins into the 1970s, we stumble across things we didn't expect to find — magazine articles instructing girls on the tips and tricks they need to know in order to survive auditions, a song celebrating these red leather couches and a strange rumor concerning Joan Crawford and her missing self-directed debut film.
