Three weeks into the semester, here’s the COVID-19 outlook at UMich & in Ann Arbor
Since students returned to campus in late August, the number of positive COVID-19 cases associated with University of Michigan students has increased and then decreased. The number of COVID-19 cases increased from 73 on the week of Aug. 22 to 195 the week of Aug. 29. Preliminary data from the two weeks since then shows numbers have remained high at 156 the week of Sep. 5, then dropping to 82 for the week of Sep. 12. Since class began, positivity rates have remained under 2%.

Michigan trounces Northern Illinois, 63-10
After last week’s primetime, nationally televised game against Washington, the Michigan football team faced a far more mundane matchup on Saturday against Northern Illinois. The 63-10 win is their third consecutive win in non-competitive fashion, building upon an impressive start to a season that began with minimal expectations. By complementing the rushing game with a more consistent passing attack, Michigan’s offense proved unstoppable.

First Entheofest draws hundreds to UMich Diag to celebrate decriminalization of psychedelics
Several hundred people gathered on the U-M Diag Sunday afternoon for the first Entheofest to celebrate psychedelic mushrooms and the one-year anniversary of Ann Arbor City Council effectively decriminalizing entheogenic plants and fungi.

Women’s volleyball wins to sweep invitational
The Michigan volleyball team (7-2) cruised to an easy victory against Boston College (10-4) on Friday evening, winning 3-0 in its final match Friday. With Big Ten play this week, the team is looking to carry the momentum forward after a strong stretch.
