UMich celebrates 50 years of multicultural lounges in residence halls
In honor of a historic Black Action Movement milestone, U-M students, alumni and legacy groups all convened in the Michigan Union ballroom Tuesday evening to celebrate 50 years of multicultural lounges in campus residence halls. The event commemorated the history of these spaces while opening up discussions surrounding their effectiveness in light of a letter entitled “White Students Colonizing Trotter” that was recently sent to the Board of Regents. Too often, it feels as though fathers would prefer sons to daughters, and that fathers who enthusiastically support their daughters in all of their endeavors without any complaint are the exception.
