‘I love this team’: Michigan relishing legacy as champions

The Wolverines’ chances of becoming Big Ten champions were a meager 2% coming into the season. But they defied the odds. The second-ranked Wolverines defeated No. 13 Iowa Saturday, capturing the program’s first Big Ten title since 2004 and securing their place in Michigan football history. “We fully believed that at some point or another during our legacy something would happen, something would put Michigan back on top,” sixth-year center Andrew Vastardis said.

Third time’s the charm: The Michigan Marriage Pact returns to match students for a third year

The Michigan Marriage Pact, which started as a class project five years ago and has since spread to nearly 60 other universities, is taking campus by storm. But there’s a twist. Unlike traditional dating apps, instead of oversaturating the dating field with potential partners, the Marriage Pact “simplifies that by providing participants with their best and most optimal match.”

More than 100 Ann Arbor restaurants closed in the past three years. How have these closures affected the community?

The Michigan Daily found that 50 Ann Arbor restaurants closed in 2020 alone. From high rents to utility costs, beloved Ann Arbor businesses have had to close their doors despite owners’ best efforts to keep the business alive. Ann Arbor is not immune to the nationwide worker shortage either, and small business owners say they have struggled to raise wages amid the pandemic which has caused a lower number of customers.

Brendan Roose: Gattis, Harbaugh realized their vision

Michigan’s offensive coach Josh Gattis’ efforts paid off in the Big Ten National Championship game. Gattis, who joined the team in 2019, brought a modern take to the offensive team and left his mark on the Wolverines’ offense by “committing to the run game.” Together, Gattis and Jim Harbaugh have built a unique identity for the Michigan football team.
