A University researcher was sent to the hospital with minor injuries after a small lab explosion in the Chemistry Building Wednesday morning.

An ambulance was called to the Chemistry Building around 10:30 a.m. The researcher was then transferred to University Hospital.

Diane Brown, spokeswoman for the University’s Division of Public Safety and Security, said the explosion was contained to a small area within the lab, and no one else was injured. She said a reaction damaged only a single vial, and that the researcher experienced cuts and scrapes.
