Editor’s Note: The Michigan Daily was a sponsor of Friday's pep rally.
Let the fandemonium begin.
Friday night’s Maize Out Lights On pep rally for the Michigan-Notre Dame game featured performances from various clubs, appearances from major alums and a crowd of around 2,000 enthusiastic students. The crowd reveled football coach Brady Hoke’s contradictory declaration that the game “is a national rivalry,” and erupted at the arrival of Glee star and Michigan alum Darren Criss.
With all the festivities and excitement, the Wolverine fans were no doubt fully pepped for the game. Here’s some quotes from the rally:
“It’s a great turnout, I was really surprised. I’ve never been to a pep rally before so it was an honor to speak here and see everyone come out.” —Desmond Howard
“I’m thrilled...I love it, this is what Michigan is all about.” — Mary Sue Coleman.
“There is no place in the world like the University of Michigan; anywhere.”
“It’s a pride that gets my ass out of bed in the morning to fly to Michigan this morning to be at the game and the pep rally, it’s the kind of pride that makes you walk around Los Angeles or New York City with this (Michigan) shirt on all the time.” — Glee star Darren Criss
