Thursday afternoon, an explosion on the property of Ann Arbor Welding Supply started a fire, closing down parts of Carpenter Road and Morgan Road in Pittsfield Township. No injuries were reported by local officials.
The explosion, which occurred around 12:40 p.m., resulted in police evacuating residents in the area, according to Michigan Radio.
According to Pittsfield Township Police, evacuation of residents was ordered as a precaution, although parts of US-23 highway passing through the region were closed for a little over an hour.
Due to butane tanks present on the property of Ann Arbor Welding Supply, the fire department has used caution in combating the fire, which was located in a commercial area of Pittsfield Township.
As of 5:33 p.m., residents were permitted to return home.
