South University Avenue will close Saturday to host its first-ever block party. The South University Area Association, together with Good Time Charley’s and The Brown Jug, will sponsor the event.
After generating extra funds from the Ann Arbor Art Fair in July, the South University Area Association chose to have the event in the absence of a University of Michigan football game, as well as a break in the starting and ending dates of construction projects in the area.
The free event will be from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and feature performances from Detroit-based “tech house” duo Golf Clap, Ypsilanti band Stormy Chromer and DJ Disco Daddy, as well as Ann Arbor rapper MC Kadence
Surrounding bars, restaurants and shops will be open during the event.
